An Argentine striker, Luis Mario Cabrera began his career in his country with Club Atlético Huracán in 1975, scoring 19 goals in two years. In 1978, he moved to Spain, to play for CD Castellón in second division. In 1980 he joined Atlético Madrid, but in the following seasons, he was overshadowed by Mexican Hugo Sánchez. Anyway in the 1984/85 season they played together combining 33 goals. The Colchoneros reached the second place and won the Copa del Rey. After the departure of Hugo Sanchez to Real Madrid, Cabrera had more space to play as a starting striker. In 1986 he started in the Cup Winners’ Cup final, lost to Dynamo Kyiv. Towards the end of his career, Cabrera played for Cádiz CF and had a second spell with Castellón (helping them promote to the top flight in his debut season), retiring at 34 with 209 matches and 63 goals in Spain’s main tier.

A midfielder gifted with tactical intelligence, dynamism and exceptional technique, Ardiles was one of the best players in the world between the seventies and eighties and one of the best Argentine footballers ever. He began his career playing for Instituto Cordoba and Belgrano, before Huracan, where his career took off. During this period he was called by Cesar Menotti to play with the Argentine national team and in 1978 he won the FIFA World Cup played at home. In a team with champions like Kempes, Passarella and Bertoni, Ardiles was a key player for the final victory. After the World Cup, he signed for Tottenham alongside his compatriot Ricky Villa, with whom he formed a legendary midfield duo. With Spurs he won two FA Cups and a UEFA Cup in 1984. He left Tottenham in 1988 to play in the later years of his career at Blackburn, QPR and Swindon Town. With the Argentine national team he played 52 games, scoring 8 goals. In addition to the FIFA World Cup won in 1978, he also played in Spain in 1982. In the following years he was inducted into the Tottenham Hall of Fame, the English Football Hall of Fame and the Football League 100 Legends.
