Carlos Morete

“El Puma” Morete was one of the most prolific Argentine strikers during 70s. A strong and determined player, he began his career with River Plate, where he played from 1970 to 1975. With the Millonarios, he won a Metropolitano and Nacional tournament in 1975 and in the same year he signed for the Spanish team Las Palmas. He was one of the key players of that team, scoring 80 goals in five seasons. With the Canarians he reached an incredible 4th place in La Liga and qualified for the UEFA Cup in the next season, where they reached the second round. After a brief spell at Sevilla in 1980/81, he returned in Argentina to play for Boca Juniors, where he won a league title. After just a season he moved to Talleres where he scored 20 goals in 20 matches and in 1982 signed for Independiente where he won another league title and was twice runner-up. In his last three seasons, he played for Argentinos Juniors where he was not a regular but won two league titles and the 1985 Copa Libertadores. He also played 4 times and scored one goal for the Argentine national team.
