Ray Hudson

An English midfielder, Ray “Rocky” Hudson began his career at Newcastle United, where in five seasons in the First Division, he made only 25 appearances and 1 goal. In 1977 he moved to the United States to play for the Fort Lauderdale Strikers (NASL). He soon became a key player and in seven seasons he made 176 appearances and 42 goals. In 1980 he reached the Soccer Bowl, lost to the New York Cosmos 3-0. Remembered as one of the best players in Strikers history, he was inducted 4 times in the All-Stars (3 times as Honorable Mention and once as Second Team). In 1984 the Strikers moved to Minnesota and Hudson was again inducted into the All-Stars (First Team).

Irving Nattrass

Starting his Magpies career as a midfielder, and ending it as a center-back, it was for his ability, class and composure at right-back for which he will be remembered by United fans. Irving seamlessly fitted into the no. 2 slot, taking over from another outstanding right-back, the long-serving David Craig. The youngster missed the 1974 FA Cup final through injury, but played in the League Cup final defeat two years later. With United finishing fifth in the league in 1977, their highest placing since the early 50s and with the player in outstanding form, an international call-up beckoned. The terrace chant “Irving, Irving Nattrass, England” was oft heard around St James’ Park. Set for the Three Lions’ 1977 tour of South America, he missed out through injury – and England, sadly would not come calling again. In August 1979, after more than 300 Newcastle appearances and 22 goals, Nattrass joined First Division Middlesbrough for a record £475,000. He played at Ayresome Park until 1986 when he was forced to retire through injury. From: chroniclelive.co.uk

Gary Megson

A tough-tackling defensive midfielder who played for nine different clubs, Gary Megson began his career at Plymouth Argyle, where he impressed enough for Everton to sign him in 1979. After two seasons at Goodison, he moved to Sheffield Wednesday. He immediately gained a place in the starting lineup, and helped the team gained promotion to First Division in 1984. In 1984 he was sold to Newcastle United but was not a regular, then in the following season he moved back to Sheffield Wednesday. In his second spell with the Owls, Megson has confirmed himself as a key player on the team. In January 1989, he moved to Manchester City, where he spent three and a half seasons, before to sign for Norwich City in 1992. He spent three seasons at Carrow Road and was an important member of the side that finished third in the inaugural season of the Premier League and played in the UEFA Cup for the first time as a result. He finished his playing career with short spells at lower division sides Lincoln City and Shrewsbury Town in 1995. In 2003, Megson was inducted into the Norwich City Hall of Fame
