Peter O’Sullivan

A skilful winger, Peter O’Sullivan, known affectionately as Sully, was the Brighton’s longest serving post-war player with over 400 League games to his credit. He played for the Seagulls from 1970 to 1981, the last two seasons in First Division. He played also for other clubs including NASL side San Diego Sockers, Fulham and Charlton Athletic, before retiring in 1986. He also won 3 caps and scored 1 goal for the Welsh national team from 1973 to 1978.

Alan Curtis

Alan Curtis began his career with Swansea City in 1972. In seven years he won promotion out of the Fourth Division in 1978 and out of the Third Division in 1979. In 1978 he also was the top scorer of Fourth Division with 34 goals in 46 games. He was then sold on to Leeds United, but struggled in the First Division and was sold back to Swansea in 1980. He helped Swansea to win promotion out of the Second Division in 1981, then moved to Southampton in November 1983. He played on loan at Stoke City towards the end of the 1985/86 season, before he joined Cardiff City in the summer. He helped the “Bluebirds” to win promotion out of the Fourth Division in 1988 and to also win the Welsh Cup in the same year. He made another return to Swansea during the 1989/90 campaign, and later ended his career with Barry Town, winning the Welsh Cup in 1994. During his career he also represented Wales, scoring six goals in 35 international games.

Carl Harris

A Welsh winger, noted for his express pace, Carl Harris played for Leeds United from 1974 to 1982. He was part of the squad that were runner-up in the European Cup in 1975 though he played only one match against Hungarian side Ujpesti (which was also his professional debut at 17). In all Harris went on to play 156 league games, scoring 26 goals, including ending the 1980/81 season as the club’s top scorer with 10 goals. From 1982 to 1985 he played for Charlton Athletic where struggled with injuries but went on to play 76 times, scoring 7 goals. In the following seasons he played for many clubs included Bury, Rochdale and Exeter City. He ended his career in 1997. Former Ipswich Town and England captain Mick Mills is on record as saying Harris was the most difficult opponent he ever faced.

Trevor Hockey

After starting out as right winger, Trevor Hockey became noted as a competitive midfielder. Easily recognizable with his full beard, he became one of the great figures of 1970s English football. Mickey Thomas

Agile and quick left-footed winger, Mickey Thomas has played for many important clubs including Manchester United, Everton, Brighton & Hove Albion, Stoke City, Chelsea and West Bromwich Albion. He began his career at Wrexham, where he spent eight seasons. With the Welsh team he reached the quarter-finals of the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1976 and won the Third Division title in 1978. Soon after he joined Manchester United. In three seasons with Red Devils, he scored 11 goals in 110 games. After two brief negative periods at Everton and Brighton & Hove Albion, Thomas moved to Stoke City, where he quickly became a favorite at the Victoria Ground. He also won the Player of the Year award for the 1982/83 season. In January 1984 he signed for Chelsea of his former Wrexham manager John Neal. Thomas made an immediate impact, scoring twice on his debut and helping the club become Second Division champions in 1984. In his last years of career he played for West Bromwich Albion, Derby County, American side Wichita Wings, Shrewsbury Town, Leeds United and again Stoke City where, at the age of 36 he played in 44 games in 1990/91 and won again the Player of the Year award. In 1991 he returned to Wales to finish his career at Wrexham and Porthmadog. With the Welsh national team he played 51 games and scored 4 goals.
